- DAY 1: Arrive to Puerto Maldonado – Tambopata Reserve
Welcome at the airport and transport to our office where you will receive a welcome tropical fruit beverage. After a short briefing about the tour, We will start our drive trip to Tambopata River (box lunch on route). During the trip we will be able to observe the local farms and the along the river: capybaras, the largest rodent in the world, river turtle, caymans and different species of birds.. Accommodation at the lodge at arrival. After a short rest we will have a brief introductory walk in the forest to learn basic principles of ecology and observe the nocturnal life of insects, frogs of various colors, and an occasional encounter with nocturnal mammals. Return to the lodge for dinner. Night in the lodge.
- DAY 2: Macaw Clay Lick and Wildife
Early wake up at dawn to begin with our 30-minute journey upstream to the Macaw Clay Lick “El Chuncho” in the Bahuaja-Sonene National Park. We will have the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful natural sceneries and wildlife of the riverbanks. At our arrival, if weather permits, we will observe one of the greatest wildlife spectacles where hundreds of parrots and different species of macaws gather to eat clay, an unforgettable experience. Also, you will have the chance of swimming in the Tambopata River. Those who wish can do kayaking on the river or you can join us to fish in the river where inhabit more than 250 species of fish. On route if the level of river are adecuated,we will visit the Cat cascades. After lunch, we will have an ethno botanical walk into the rainforest by the Tambopata cross path, to learn about plants and medicinal trees of the area; and to observe the amazing jungle ecosystem where we will see walking palm trees, giant lupuna trees, snake trees and so on. At nightfall, we embark again to make a nocturnal caiman search. Dinner
- DAY 3: Sandoval Lake Time
After breakfast we will make to Puerto Maldonado for our next amazing place. After lunch we will leave and travel for thirty minutes on the Madre de Dios River, to the access trail to Sandoval Lake, a beautiful rainforest oxbow lake. 3 km hike to the banks of the lake. There we will board a canoe to paddle around the lake enjoying the beauty of the landscape and observing the wildlife, such as kingfishers, herons, hoatzins (unique pre historic looking birds), monkeys, etc. If we are lucky we could see the family of giant otters which live at the lake. We will have the opportunity to swim in the lake. Dinner
- DAY 4: Giant RIver Otters - Parrots – Nature - Puerto Maldonado
Today we will have an extra chance to enjoin the huge diversity found at this place inside the Tambopata Reserve. And we will leave after breakfast to Puerto Maldonado and transfer to the aiport if you have a flight to other destination.
