The Tour starts birding part of the Western Pacific Ocean in Lima. Then 50 minutes flight to Cusco for Andean Condor, Machu Picchu, Abra Malaga, Carrizales for several endemics species only found along there.

Finally the most popular birding area; Manu Road ending in alto Madre de Dios River which is part of the Amazon basin with the extension to enjoy Manu Lowland for more amazonian species arriving in Puerto Maldonado city.

  • DAY 1: Arrive to Lima - Peru

We will pick you up from lima airpot and transfer to our hotel. Usually international flights arrive to Peru from 10:30 pm to 11:30 pm. But remind us about your arrival time. Night in Hotel.

  • DAY 2: Villa Marshes/Pucusana - Cusco

We will have a morning drive to Villa Marshes (Pantanos de Villa) for several species found here. Then we will drive again to get Pucusana fishing town for our semi-pelagic trip for Inca Terns and Penguins. Then if time permits we can explore Puerto Viejo, San Andres area for some extra species. Then we will drive straight to Lima airport for our afternoon flight to Cusco. Dinner and Night in Hotel.

Target Species: Many-Colored Rusth-Tyrant, Wren-like Rushbird, Great Grebe, Yellow-Hooded Blackbird, Inca Tern, Peruvian Booby, Blue-footed Booby, Peruvian Pelican, Humboldt Penguin, Guanay and Red-legged Cormorants, Blackish Oystercatcher, Surf Cinclodes (E), Coastal Miner (E), Amazilia Hummingbird, Peruvian Medowlark, Peruvian Thick-knee, Purple-collared Woodstart, Peruvian Pygmy-Owl, Pacific Parrotlet and many others.

  • DAY 3: Andean Lakes - Train to Aguas Calientes

Early brekfast and we will search for several species among andean marshes and lagoons such as Piuray and Huaypo areas. After lunch we will take our train to Aguas Calientes. If there is time we will do some birding before dust. Dinner and Night in Aguas Calientes Hotel. 

  • DAY 4: Machu Picchu time!

Early buss ride to Machu Picchu where we will have an unforgettable experience along Inca site. Then we can try do some birding along the cloud forest do some birding. After lunch we will take our train back to Cusco. Night in Hotel.

Target Species: Torrent Duck, White-capped Dipper, Inca Wren (E), Green and White Hummingbird (E), Ocellated Piculet, Masked Fruiteater (E), Chestnut-capped Brush-Finch, Pale-legged Warbler, Rusty Flowerpiercer, Tricolored Brush-Finch, Variable Antshrike and many others. 

  • DAY 5: Abra Malaga, Carrizales

Early breakfast and we will drive up to Abra Malaga Pass (polylepis forest) at 4300 m where there is a chance to explore the small polylepis forest a very unique ecosystem for certain species only found along the area. We will have a full morning and part of the afternoon to search all endemics and specialist. Then we will back to our hotel for dinner. Night in Cusco Hotel.

Target Species: White-winged Diuca-Finch, Ash-breasted Sierra-Finch, Plumbeous Sierra-Finch, White-browed Tit-Spinetail, Ash-breasted Tit-Tyrant, Stripe-headed Antpitta, Tawny Tit-Spinetail, Royal Cinclodes, White.winged Cinclodes, Puna Tapaculo, Olivaceous Thornbill, Andean Lapwing, Giant Conebill, Puna Ground-Tyrant, Unstreaked Tit-tyrant, Cusco Brush-finch, Parodis Heminpingus, Black-capped Hemispingus, Rufous Antpitta, Trilling Tapaculo, Marcapata Spinetail, Inca Wren, White-banded Tyrannulet, Pearled Treerunner, Streaked Tuftedcheek, White-rumped Hawk,  Plushcap, Red-crested Finch, Sclaters Tyrannulet, Ocellated Piculet, Plumbeous-back Tyrant, Swallow-tailed Hummingbird, Yellow-bellied Seedeater, Common Tody-Flycatcher among others.

  • DAY 6: Huacarpay Lake – Mountain Cloud forest

Early Breakfast and we will start our birding adventure into the most famous Birdiest Road in the world. We will visit o nice place for some resident species found aroun huacarpay lake. Then we will keep our birding drive up to Paucartambo village for our lunch in our favorite local restaurant. Then we will drive up to Acjanaco pass where Manu National Park starts. There we hope to get mixed flocks and several other species along the road on the way to get our first lodge. Dinner and overnight in Wayqecha Biological Station or Similar

Birds: Bearded Mountaineer (ENDEMIC), Rusty-fronted Canastero (ENDEMIC), Streak-fronted Thornbird, Green-tailed Trainbear, Black-tailed Trainbear, Rusty Flowerpiercer, Black-throated Flowerpiercer, , Puna Teal, Yellow-billed Teal, Yellow-billed Pintail, White-tufted Grebe, Cinnamon Teal, Yellow-winged Blackbird, Aplomado Falcon, Cinereous Harrier, Hooded Siskin, Olivaceous Siskin, Plumbeous Raim Chestnut-Breasted Mountain-Finch (ENDEMIC), Cinereous, Ochre-napped Ground-Tyrants, Black-billed Shrike-Tyrant, Rufous-webbed Bush-Tyrant, Slender-Billed Miner, Hooded-Mountain Tanager, Scarlet-Bellied Mountain-Tanager, Grass-Green Tanager, Golden- Collared Tanager and many more.

  • DAY 7:  Full Day Birding

Breakfast around 5:30 am and we will start our birding time along the road and selected birding location for endemic and much number of species. On of the morning we will explore the Acjanaco Pass for their specialist, After lunch we will keep birding for some missing species. There are chances do some owling before or after dinner if someone want to join us. Dinner and Night in Wayqecha Station or Similar

  • DAY 8: Cloud and Hill Forest

Breakfast and we will do some morning birding before lunch. After lunch we will leave the lodge and keep birding along the road with several chances for more species according the elevation and forest type with some selected stops for targets species. Dinner and overnight in Cock of the Rock Lodge or Paradise Lodge

  • DAY 9: Full Day Birding

Breakfast and we will have full morning and part of the afternoon birding along the road and trails. We will back for Lunch and have some time off for watching hummingbirds at the feeders in front the Comedor. We will have time to do some owling. Night in Cock of the Rock Lodge or Paradise Lodge

  • Day 10: Alto Madre de Dios - Amazonia time

Early breakfast and we will do our last drive along Manu Road to get Atalaya Village. There we will do a short boat ride to get our next birding Lodge. We will do some birding along the trails. Dinner and night in Amazonia Lodge

Target Species: Yellow-browed Tody-Flycatcher, Striolated Puffbird, Southern Lapwing, Southern Caracara, Warbling Antbird, Little Woodpecker, Russet-Backed Oropendola, Bamboo Antshrike, Swallow wing, Blue-Headed Macaw, Swallow Tanager, Magpie Tanager, Ornate Antwren, Ornate Flycatcher, Plumbeous Kite, Festive Coquette, Goeldis Antbird, White-Lined Antbird, Manu Antbird, Black-faced Antbird, White-browed Antbird, White-cheeked Tody-Flycatcher, Rusty-fronted Flycatcher, Flammulated Pygmy-Tyrant, Scarlet-hooded Barbet, Lemon-Throated Barbet, White-flanked Antwren, White-eyed Antwren, Iherings Antwren, and many more.

  • DAY 11: Full Day Birding

Breakfast and we will have full morning birding along the trails and in the afternoon some birding extra species. There are feeders to watch on our resting timen. We will do some Owling before dinner. Night in Amazonia Lodge.

  •  DAY 12: Boat Ride  to Amazonian Lowland

After breakfast we will get ready for our next destination. It will be 2 hours boat ride down Madre de Dios Riverr with the chance to find several species to spot along the river sides such as: Parrots, kingfishers, terns, herons, egrets, collared plober, pied lapwing and even some monkeys, capybara. Then we will do some birding alonf the trails and some owling before dusk. Dinner and Overnight in Pantiacolla Lodge 

  • Day 13: Full day birding

We will have a full day birding along the trails for several other species with some owling time. Dinner and Overnight in Pantiacolla Lodge

  • Day 14: Boat Ride and birding

We will do some birding in the morning for some missing species. After Lunch we will do navigate again down stream for 3 hours to get our next birding spot. We will try do some olwling before dusk. Night in Manu Wildlife Center or Manu Birding Lodge

  • Day 15 - 16: Full day birding

We will have a full day birding along the trails for several other species with some owling time.We will try do some olwling before dusk. Night in Manu Wildlife Center or Manu Birding Lodge

  • Day 17: Transfer to Puerto Maldonado

We will early start our boat trip for about 3 hours with some birding along the river for: Capped Heron, Orinoco Goose, Sand-colored Nighthawk and perhaps Jaguar on the way!!! As soon we arrive to the Colorado village, we will continue our trip to Puerto Maldonado by private taxi for 1 hour and then we will cross the Inambari River with a local boat and finally we will take a private taxi to get the city. Dinner and Night in Puerto Maldonado Hotel

  • Day 18: Biggest Macaw Clay Lick in the world - Sandoval Oxbow lake
We will start early morning visting the most amazing place for Macaws, Parrots, Parakeets which they meet every morning at the popular place known as the Macaw Clay Lick found on river banks where they can find minerals which helps to neutralize toxins from unripe fruits.  Then we will back for lunch. After lunch we will visit the oxbow lake one of the amazing places near the city located in Tambopata Reserve. We will go by boat for 20 minutes and then a short walk for 30 minutes to reach the lake. There we will navigate on a boat around the oxbow lake. After our nice birding time there we will start to search for several alng the trail for some extra species on our way back to the city. Dinner and night in Puerto Maldonado Hotel.
  • DAY 19: Birding and Flight to Lima

We will do some birding for the morning and after lunch you will be transfer to the airport for your flight to Lima and connections.

  • Lena and I want to thank you again for a wonderful trip. It is hard to believe it is over. We appreciated your great bird-finding skills, the design of the trip and your taking care of us so well.
