- DAY 1: Arrive to Lima - Peru
We will pick you up from lima airpot and transfer to our hotel. Usually international flights arrive to Peru from 10:30 pm to 11:30 pm. But remind us about your arrival time. Night in Hotel.
- DAY 2: Humboldt Penguin - Cusco
We will have a morning drive to Villa Marshes (Pantanos de Villa) for several species found here. Then we will drive again to get Pucusana fishing town for our semi-pelagic trip for Inca Tern and Penguin. Then if time permits we can explore Puerto Viejo, San Andres area for some extra species. And finally we will drive to lima airport for our late afternoon flight around 4:30 pm to Cusco. Night in Hotel.
Target Species: Many-Colored Rusth-Tyrant, Wren-like Rushbird, Great Grebe, Yellow-Hooded Blackbird, Inca Tern, Peruvian Booby, Blue-footed Booby, Peruvian Pelican, Humboldt Penguin, Guanay and Red-legged Cormorants, Blackish Oystercatcher, Surf Cinclodes (E), Coastal Miner (E), Amazilia Hummingbird, Peruvian Medowlark, Peruvian Thick-knee, Purple-collared Woodstart, Peruvian Pygmy-Owl, Pacific Parrotlet and many others.
- DAY 3: Vilcabamba Valley Endemics
As today our main goal is the Andean Condor we need to start early drive up to Chonta village outside Cusco which is a new place to enjoin more than 4 individuals at least soaring almost eye level. But there are several other species to find along the road. After this amazing area we will back Cusco. Night in Hotel.
Target Species: Andean Condor, White-eared Puffbird, Plain-tailed Canastero, White-tuffed Sunbean (E), Vilcabamba Thisleatail (E), Apurimac Brush-finch (E), Stripe-headed Antpitta, Vilcabamba Tapaculo (E), Chestnut-breasted Mountain-finch (E) and Many others.
- DAY 4: Abra Malaga - Machu Picchu Town
Early breakfast and we will drive the pave road up to Peñas area and Abra Malaga Pass (polylepis forest) at 4200 m which there is a chance to explore the small polylepis forest. Then we will explore Carrizales area (chusquea Bamboo) for some mixed flocks and extra endemic species. After our amazing day we will take the train to Aguas Calientes. Night in Hotel.
- DAY 5: Machu Picchu time!
Early buss ride to main Inca Ruin where we will have an unforgettable experience along Machu Picchu site. Then if there is time we can do some birding before our afternoon train back to Cusco. Night in Hotel.
Target Species: Torrent Duck, White-capped Dipper, Inca Wren (E), Green and White Hummingbird (E), Ocellated Piculet, Masked Fruiteater (E), Chestnut-capped Brush-Finch, Pale-legged Warbler, Rusty Flowerpiercer, Tricolored Brush-Finch, Variable Antshrike and many others.
We will drive up to San Salvador Lake (4,100m) on the way to Paucartambo village. Then we will arrive to Acjanaco pass where Manu National Park starts. After the pass we will probably start to see more species. Night in Wayqecha Station.
Target Species: Bearded Mountanier (E), Giant Hummingbird, Chestnut-Breasted Mountain-Finch (E), Giant Coot, Crested Duck, Andean Goose, Plumbeous Sierra-Finch, Ash-breasted Sierra-Finch, Andean Flicker, Puna Ibis, Hooded Siskin, Black Siskin, Band-tailed Seedeater, Peruvian Sierra-Finch, Slender-billed Miner, Creamy-crested Spinetail (E), Brow-Backed Chat-tyrant, Black-throated, Moustached, Masked Floweriercers, Tit-like Dacnis, Scarlet-bellied Mountain-Tanager and many others.
Today will be full day birding along the road and lodge surrounding. We will explore the upper road for some missing species and spend more time after the tunnels for more diversity for all our targets. Night in Wayqecha Station.
Target Species: Grass-green Mountain-Tanager, Chestnut-bellied Mountain-Tanager, Hooded Mountain-Tanager, Barred Becard, Red-crested and Chestnut-crested Cotingas, Slaty-backed Chat-tyrant, Golden-headed Quetzal, Golden-collared Tanager, Gray-breasted Mountain-Toucan, Blue-banded Toucanet, Red and White Antpitta (E), Marcapata Spinetail (E) and many others.
- DAY 8: Birding to Cock of the Rock Lodge
Early birding along the road on our way to th next birding lodge. Dinner and night in Cock of the Rock Lodge.
Target Species: Gray-mantled Wren, Mountain Foliage-Gleaner, Olive-Backed Woodcreeper, Stripe Threehunter, Scale-crested Pygmy-Tyrant, Inca Flycatcher(E), Marble-faced Bristle-Tyrant, Stripe-Chested Antwren, White-backed Fire-Eye, Black-eared Hemispingus, Yellow-breasted Antwren, Yungas Manakin, Yellow-throated, common Clorospingus, Dusky-Green Oropendola, Brown Tinamou, Rufous-tailed Tyrant, Chestnut-backed Antshrike, Unicolores Antshrike, Andean Motmot, Rufescent Screech-Owl, Blue-naped Clorophonia, Yellow-breasted Antbird, Black-streaked Puffbird and many others.
- DAY 9-10: Cock of the Rock Lek-Manu Road
Early visit the mytical Andean cock of the rock lek which we can see over 6 males displaying from a hide. Then we will spend the rest of the morning birding along the road. We will try in the afternoon to see Lyre-tailed Nighjar display before dusk. Night in Cock of the Rock lodge.
Target Species: Andean Cock of the Rock, Versicolored Barbet, Beryl-spangle, Safron-Crown, Golden Tanagers and Orange-eared, Yellow-throated, Slaty, Golden-naped, Paradise, Blue-necked, Bay-headed, Spotted Tanagers, Deep-blue Flowerpiercer, Three-stripe Warbler, Russet-crowned Warbler, Black-faced Bursh-finch, Golden-headed Quetzal, Crested Quetzal, Amazonian Umbrellabird, Wire-crested Thorntail, Speckled Hummingbird, Violet-headed Hummingbird, Peruvian Piedtail (E), Many-spotted Humminbird, Botted Raquetail and many others.
- DAY 11: Birding to Bamboo forest
Early birding along the road for some missing species and after lunch we will drive to our next biriding lodge. Dinner and Night in Villa Carmen.
Today we will spend our day birding along the bamboo stand forest for all our target species and some birding in the afternoon ending with some owling before dinner. Night in Villa carmen.
- DAY 13: Trip to Rufous-Crested Coquette
Early start birding drive on our way to Atalaya village for our short boat ride to Amazonia Lodge. After accomodation we will spend time on the hummingbird feeders and lodge surrounding for some other amazonian species. Night in Amazonia Lodge.
We will explore the hill forest and the canopy tower then in the afternoon we will spend some time birding along the floodplain forest for more species. Dinner and night in Amazonia Logde.
