  • Omar –

I have finally made it all the way through my data entry from our trip. The result: 516 total; 270 life birds. So I passed my goal of 500 for the trip, and also my goal of breaking 2000 for my life. Two notes: I ended up dropping (1) Koepeckes Hermit, because I could not separate it from Long-tailed Hermit based on the look we had (the buffy back); and (2) Western Sandpiper (because the photos pointed toward Least Sandpiper instead). I am confident that all other records are correct (including Scrub Blackbird on the last morning in Lima, which I initially misidentified as Bronzed Cowbird until Virgil pointed out that the voice was wrong). Thank you again for sharing your skill and enthusiasm: It was the combination that helped make this such a successful trip for me.

  • Hello Omar and Jesus,

Attached you see our preliminary checklist of our birding during the last 3 weeks. As a guideline we always use the Clements checklist of the birds of the world, now version 6.7 dated Dec 2012. We will go through it the coming week to see if all (sub) species are correct and will let you know if there are any changes.

Between all the works I finally managed to organize our pictures. You can see them here,,

Thank you again for all the good work you have done. The logistics were very well arranged, and Jesus is an excellent birding guide who understood our needs and wishes very well.

Best regards and hope to meet again someday in Peru. We have some ideas what we still want to see.
