- Day 1: Arrive in Cuiaba, Mato Grosso - to The Pantanal Pouso Alegre
We will pick you up from your hotel or airport (matechal grondon) in Mato Groso-Cuiba and then we will start our drive along Transpantaneira Highway to get our first lodge. There are several kinds of birds to see where we can stop to get a better view or a nice photo. Night at Pouso Alegre
- Day 2-3: Full Days Birding
We will check out the extensive low-lying marsh right behind our lodge and surroundings. After dinner we can try for: Nacunda Nighthawk, Scissor-tailed Nightjar, and some nocturnal mammals such as Crab-eating Fox and, with great luck, Giant Anteater and Ocelot. Nights at Pouso Alegre.
- Day 4: Drive to Porto Jofre
After breakfast, we will start our birding drive to Jofre area where is popular for fishing and jaguar expeditions along the Rio Cuiaba. We will see capybaras, caiman, Maguari Stork, Southern Screamer, Scarlet-headed Blackbird and many others birds along the road on the way to Porto Jofre. Dinner and Night at Posada do Neco.
- Day 5-6: Birding and Jaguar search full days
After breakfast, we will have two full morning boat trip searching for the king of the Amazon THE JAGUAR and for sure several birds species, a family of Giant Otters and caimans along the riversides. After lunch, we will explore along the lodge surrounding and road for some extra species and some owling before dinner. The next morning we will do our second time searching for wildlife by boat. Nights at Posada do Neco.
- Day 7: Drive to Pousada Piuval
After breakfast, we will begin making our way back towards the beginning of the Transpantaneira with plenty of time to appreciate the congregations of waterfowl along the way. We will reach our lodge by for lunch and go out in the afternoon for Yellow-breasted Crake, Least Bittern, Azure Gallinule, and several others. We will try also for Tropical Screech-Owl, Great Potoo, and some others Nocturnal wildlife. Night in Posada Piuval.
- Day 8: Birding and drive to Chapada dos Guimaraes
Today we will do some birding early morning for some missing species around the lodge and along the road. Then we will start our drive to the north of Cuiaba. We usually arrive late afternoon for some birding after our accommodation. Dinner and night in Chapada dos Guimaraes
- Day 9: Cerrado and dry forest
We will have an early breakfast and drive a few kilometers out into cerrado habitat to bird for several hours this morning. After a break at the pousada, we will bird another patch of Cerrado in the afternoon in search of any species we may have missed in the morning and we will look for our target species White-rumped and White-banded tanagers, Coal-crested Finch, Curl-crested Jays, and many other cerrado endemics that are not likely to be seen on other areas of the tour and we good luck Maned Wolf will be there. Night in Chapada dos Guimaraes.
- Day 10: Birding and drive to Sao Jose do Rio Claro
Early Birding for some missing species. And then we will head to the Brazilian Amazon area, this part we will drive for about 4 hours to get to our next birding spot. After our accommodation, we will try for some birding surrounding the lodge. Dinner and night in Pousada.
- Day 11-12: Full days Birding
We will have two full days to explore the trails and lodge surrounding all amazonian specialties found along the area. We will have the chance to see Black-girdled Barbet, Tooth-billed Wren, Goulds Toucanet, Black-tailed, Collared, and Green-backed Trogons, Red-necked Woodpecker, Rufous-capped Nunlet, Paradise, Yellow-rumped, and Turquoise Tanagers, and Spixs Warbling-Antbird, Bare-necked Fruitcrow, Cinereous Antshrike, Elegant Woodcreeper, Red-headed, Snow-capped, and Flame-crested manakins, Black-spotted Bare-eye, White-backed Fire-eye, and Scale-backed Antbird, Cone-billed Tanager, Amazonian Umbrellabird, Pompadour Cotinga, Brown Jacamar. Nights in Pousada
- Day 13: Birding, back to Cuiaba
Early birding for some extra species and then we will back to Cuiaba city for Lunch and take an afternoon flight with connections to home.
