  • DAY 1: Arrive to Lima

You will arrive to Lima International Airport. We will welcome with a sign Peru Birding Tours and transfer to our hotel selected. 

  • DAY 2: Villa Marshes, Pucusana

 Breakfast around 6:30 am and after we’ll drive for about 20 minutes south of Miraflores to Villa Marsh (Pantanos de Villa). Here we are going to explore the “Marvilla place” for much diversity which is located between the wetland and the ocean. Then we’ll drive for 30 minutes more to Pucusana. There we’ll do our Semi Pelagic Tour. We’ll navigate on our private local boat for penguins, cormorants, inca tern and other sea birds. After Lunch, we will back to Lima. Night in Lima Hotel

Birds: Many-colored Rush-tyrant (coast specie), Wren-like Rushbird, Yellow-hooded Blackbird, Peruvian Meadowlark, Peruvian Thick-knee, Great Grebe, White-Cheeked Pintail, Plumbeous Rail, Gray-hooded Gull, Belcher’s Gull (Band-Tailed), kelp Gull, Gray Gull, Peruvian Pelican, Peruvian Booby, Surf Cinclodes (ENDEMIC), Guanay Cormorant, Red-Legged Cormorant, Blackish Oystercatcher, Humboldt Penguin, Inca Tern, Coastal Miner (ENDEMIC), Parrot-Billed Seedeater, Amazilia Hummingbird and more. 

  •  DAY 3: Lima – Santa Eulalia - Polylepis

Early drive to Santa Eulalia valley located at the central Andes of Lima. Our first drive will be for 2 hours to get our first birding spot. Then we will keep driving up the mountains where we will get several other species found along the valley with dry mountians, and with good luck Andean Condor. We will explore the small polylepis forest, lakes and mountains surroundings. Nigh in Small Hotel in Huasao town.

Birds: Black-necked Woodpecker (ENDEMIC), Pacific Pygmy-Owl, Great Inca-Finch (ENDEMIC), Black-crested Tit-Tyrant, Southern Beardless Tyrannulet, Oasis Hummingbird, Purple-Collared Woodstart, Peruvian Sheartail, Golden Grosbeak, Andean Condor, Mourning Sierra-Finch, Rufous-breasted Warbling-Finch (ENDEMIC), Rusty-breasted Brush-Finch (ENDEMIC), Rusty-crowned Tit-Spinetail (ENDEMIC), White-browed Chat-Tyrant, Mourning Sierra-Finch, Band-tailed Seedeater, Band-tailed Sierra-Finch, Black Metaltail (ENDEMIC), Brownze-tailed Comet (ENDEMIC), Giant Hummingbird, Peruvian Sierra-Finch, Bright-Rumped Yellow-Finch, Grassland Yellow-Finch, Greenish Yellow-Finch, Raimondi’s Yellow-Finch (ENDEMIC), Andean Hillstart, Streak-backed Canastero, Gray-Breasted Seedsnipe, Rufous-bellied Seedsnipe, Coomon Miner, White-bellied Cinclodes (ENDEMIC), Giant Coot, Silvered Grebe and many others. 

  • Day 4: Polylepis - Milloq Bogs - Junin 

After breakfast we will search for some missing species along the road and milloq bog for endemic species. then we will drive and look for some other species on our way to junin Lake. Night in Small Hotel.

  • DAY 5: Birding Junin Lake and back to Lima

Early boat trip for our main target spcecie the endangered species Junin Grebe. After our boat trip we will search for other target species and then we will have a long drive to Lima. Night in Hotel.

Birds: Junin Grebe (ENDEMIC), Junin Rail (ENDEMIC), Dark-winged Miner (ENDEMIC), Black-breasted Hillstart (ENDEMIC), Chilean Flamingo, Andean flicker, Andean Goose, Puna Ibis, Plumbeus Rail, Black-crested Tit-Tyrant, Giant Conebill, Thick-billed Siskin, Brown-flanked Tanager (ENDEMIC) and Barons Spinetail (ENDEMIC) and many more.

  • DAY 6: Lomas de Lachay - Cusco

Early drive up to North of Lima for birding along this natural reserve. This place is a unique ecosystem providing habitat for several  species only found at this place. After few hours birding along the reserve we will drive straight to Lima airport for our afteroon flight to Cusco. There we will be transfer up to Limatambo-Mollepata Town for dinner and Night in Hotel.

Birds: Least Snipe, Grayish Miner (E), Cactus Canstero (E), Black-chested Buzzard-Eagle, Oasis Hummingbird, Purple-Collared Woodstart, Peruvian Sheartail, Dark-Faced Ground-Tyrant, Short-Tailed Field-Tyrant, Purple-Throated Seedeater, Collared Warbling-Finch, Coastal Miner (E), Peruvian Pipit (yellowish), Peruvian Medowlark, Band-tailed Sierra-Finch among others.

  • DAY 7: Apurimac Endemic Species

Early drive up to Mollepata road where we can enjoin a our new birding spot for several species very restricted to the area. We will have a lunch in a favorite local restaurant by the base of the Soraypampa Glaciar. Then we will keep birding on our way back to Mollepata searching for missing species. Dinner and night in Hotel

Target Species: White-eared Puffbird, White-wiged Black-Tyrant, Plain-tailed Canastero, White-tuffed Sunbean (E), Vilcabamba Thisleatail (E), Apurimac Brush-finch (E), Stripe-headed Antpitta, Vilcabamba Tapaculo (E), Andean Condor, Chestnut-breasted Mountain-finch (E), Creamy-crested Spinetail (E), Giant Conebill, Tit-like Dacnis and Many others.

  • DAY 8: Birding and drive to Abra Malaga

Early breakfast and we will search for some missing species on our way to Ollantaytambo and then we will stop at peñas area for our target species and after we will keep drving up the valley untill Abra Malaga pass where we will try for Polylepis species. Then we will bird Carrizales and at the end Ipal Ecolodge. Dinner and night there. and surroundings. 

Birds: Royal Cinclodes, White-Browed Tit-Spinetail (ENDEMIC), Unstreaked Tit-Tyrant (ENDEMIC), Red and White Antpitta (ENDEMIC), Cusco Brush-Finch (ENDEMIC), Parodi’s Hemispingus (ENDEMIC), Black-Capped Hemispingus, Plushcap, Scarlet-bellied Mountain-Tanager,  Streak-Headed Antpitta, Tawny Tit-Spinetail, Blue-Backed Conebill, Amethyst-Throated Sunangel, Rufous-breasted Chat-Tyrant, Brown-backed Chat-Tyrant and many others.

  • DAY 9: Full Day Birding

Early birding arounf the lodge and then we will heap up the cloud forest for the rest of the day. After lunch we will start our birding drive along Carrizales and mountains along the roas on our way to Ollantaytambo. Dinner and Night in Hotel.

Target Species: Sclaters Tyrannulet, Swallow-tailed Hummingbird, Pileated Finch, Ocellated Piculet, Masked Fruiteater (E), Flame-faced Tanager, Mottled-cheeked Tyrannulet, Saffron-crowned Tanager, Greena and White Hummingbird (E) and many others.

  • DAY 10: Machu Picchu Time

Early drive and train ride to get Aguas Calientes town wich is the entrance to one of the wonder in world Machu Picchu Ruin. There we will enjoin the inca site for the rest of the morning. After Lunch if time permits we can do some birding before our train ride to Ollantaytambo. Dinner and Night in Hotel

  • DAY 11: Manu National Park - Manu Road

Breakfast and then we will start our birding adventure driving to Hucarpay Lake for target species. Then we will continuos our drive to Paucartambo village for lunch on our favorite local restaurant. After we will move to Acjanaco pass where Manu National Park starts. After the pass we will probably start to see more species on our way to our first lodge in Manu road located at 1,500 meters. We will try to get in time for Lyred-Tailed Nightjar display at dusk another wise we will do on next afternoon Dinner and Night in lodge

Target Species: Bearded Mountanier (E), Moustached Flowerpiercer, Hooded Mountain-Tanager, Scarlet-bellied Mountain-Tanager, Golden-collared Tanager, Grass-green Tanager, Gray-mantled Wren, Mountain Foliage-Gleaner, Olive-Backed Woodcreeper, Stripe Threehunter, Scale-crested Pygmy-Tyrant, Inca Flycatcher(E), Marble-faced Bristle-Tyrant, Stripe-Chested Antwren, White-backed Fire-Eye, Black-eared Hemispingus, Yellow-breasted Antwren, Yungas Manakin, Yellow-throated, common Clorospingus, Dusky-Green Oropendola, Brown Tinamou, Rufous-tailed Tyrant, Chestnut-backed Antshrike, Unicolored Antshrike, Andean Motmot, Rufescent Screech-Owl, Blue-naped Chlorophonia, Yellow-breasted Antbird, Black-streaked Puffbird and many others.

  • DAY 12-13: Full days Birding

Early and late afternoon birding along the road for mixed flocks and residents species.  We will try also at dusk for some owls. Meals at lodge and overnights.

Target Species: Andean Cock of the Rock, Versicolored Barbet, Beryl-spangled, Safron-Crown, Golden Tanagers and Orange-eared, Yellow-throated, Slaty, Golden-naped, Paradise, Blue-necked, Bay-headed, Spotted Tanagers, Deep-blue Flowerpiercer, Three-stripe Warbler, Russet-crowned Warbler, Black-faced Brush-finch, Golden-headed Quetzal, Crested Quetzal, Amazonian Umbrellabird, Wire-crested Thorntail, Speckled Hummingbird, Violet-headed Hummingbird, Peruvian Piedtail (E), Many-spotted Humminbird, Botted Raquetail, Gray-mantled Wren, Mountain Foliage-Gleaner, Olive-Backed Woodcreeper, Stripe Threehunter, Scale-crested Pygmy-Tyrant, Marble-faced Bristle-Tyrant, Stripe-Chested Antwren, White-backed Fire-Eye, Black-eared Hemispingus, Yellow-breasted Antwren, Yungas Manakin, Yellow-throated, common Clorospingus, Dusky-Green Oropendola, Brown Tinamou, Rufous-tailed Tyrant, Chestnut-backed Antshrike, Unicolored Antshrike, Andean Motmot, Rufescent Screech-Owl, Blue-naped Chlorophonia, Yellow-breasted Antbird and many others.

  • DAY 14: Birding drive the upper Manu Road

Today we will search for missing species. Then we we will drive up the mountains to get our next birding lodge found at 2,900 meters. . Dinner and night in Lodge.

  •  DAY 15: Full Day Birding

Early and late afternoon birding along the road for mixed flocks and residents species.  We will try also at dusk for some owls. Meals at lodge and overnight.

Target Species: Scarlet-bellied Mountain-Tanager, Grass-green Mountain-Tanager, Chestnut-bellied Mountain-Tanager, Hooded Mountain-Tanager, Barred Becard, Red-crested and Chestnut-crested Cotingas, Slaty-backed Chat-tyrant, Golden-headed Quetzal, Golden-collared Tanager, Gray-breasted Mountain-Toucan, Blue-banded Toucanet, Red and White Antpitta (E), Marcapata Spinetail (E) and many others.and many others.

  • DAY 16: Birding drive to Cusco

Early breakfast and we will search for some missing species on our way back to Cusco City. Dinner and night in Hotel.

and then we will back to Puerto Maldonado as the entrance to Sandoval Oxbow Lake. There is a boat ride for 20 minutes on Madre de Dios River to get the entrance of the lake. From there we will start birding along the trail till we get the small boat with paddles to get our lodge. Dinner and Night in Lodge

  • DAY 17: Flight to Puerto Maldonado - Sandoval Lake

Today we will take a morning flight and we will welcome to Puerto Maldonado and transfer to the office if we need. Then we will start our boat trip for 30 minutes to get the entrance to lake sandoval. There we will start birdng walk to reach a small boat with paddles to explore the lake on our way to get our next lodge. Dinner and Night in Lodge.

  • Day 18-19: Full days Birding

Early birding by a catamaran along the lake for resident species and with a good luck a family of Giant Otters, Black Caiman, Agami Heron, Capped Heron, kingfishers and many others wildlife. After a nice early morning, we will back to our lodge for breakfast and after we will keep birding along the trails, then some break to avoid the heat. Then late afternoon we will take the catamaran again to search for more species before dark. The second day we will bird along the trails for the morning and afternoon. But if we need to do the lake again for some missing species there is a chance for sure. Dinner and Nights in Lodge.

  • Day 20: Birding the Upper Tambopata Reserve

Early breakfast and we will start our way back birding along the lake and trail untill we arrive the main river for our boat trip to the city for lunch. Then we will start our next birding hot spot. We will drive for 40 minutes along the main highway to get our next birding boat trip. There we will do around 1 hour boat trip with the chance to find several species along the road and river sides. We usually arrive late afternoon. Dinner and night in Lodge.

Birds: Drab Water-Tyrant, Capped Heron, Ladder-tailed Nightjar, Sand-colored nighthawk, Cocoi Heron, Horned Screamer, Great-black Hawk, White-winged Swallow, White-banded Swallow, and many others.

  • DAY 21: Biggest Macaw Clay Lick in the World 

Early boat ride to get the best experience watching Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick considered as the biggest and diversity. Every morning macaws, parrots, parakeets meet here to socialize and get some minerals from the river bank (cliff) as important for their diet. The activity usually end before noon and after we will back to the lodge for lunch. Then we will do some afternoon birding along the bambo forest. Dinner and night in Lodge

  • DAY 22: Birding out to Puerto Maldonado - Explorers Inn Lodge

Today there is a chance to visit the clay lick if you prefer or we can start our birding back to Puerto Maldonado where we will start our trip to our next birding spot. We will navigate on the famous Madre de Dios River for 30 minutes and the some walk birding to get the amazing sandoval lake. Dinner and night in Lodge

  •  DAY 23-24: Canopy Tower Birding and trails.

Early breakfast and we will go to the canopy tower for the first hours of the morning. Then we will keep birding along the trail for some other species. After lunch we will bird diferent trail and back to canopy tower for some missing species. 

Birds: Purple-throated Fruitcrow, Bare-necked Fruitcrow, Golden-Collared Toucanet, Emerald Toucanet, Curl-crested Aracari, Chestnut-eared Aracari, Ivory-billed Aracari, Ringed Woodpecker, Blue-headed Macaw, Red and Green Macaw, Scarlet Macaw and many others.

  • DAY 25: Birding in Puerto Maldonado - Flight to Lima

After breakfast we will be transfer to Puerto Maldonado where we will do some birding. Then we will have lunch to celabrate our amazing birdng time in Peru. Then we will take our afternoon flight to Lima and home connections.
