Day 1: Birding Cordillera Escalera - Tunnel - Aconabikh

Welcome to Tarapoto or you can arrive to Tarapoto the day before to start the tour. We will drive for about 30 minutes up to 800 m to reach the first birding spot which is the area for White-throated, Yellow-tufted Woodpeckers, Dotted Tanager, Rose-fronted, Garlepps Parakeets, Dotted, Yellow-bellied, Paradise, Bay-headed, Swallow, Yellow-crested, Magpie, Olive, Blue-grey, Silvery Tanagers, Blackish Pewee, Rough-legged Tyrannulet, Slaty-capped Shrike-Vireo, Cliff Flycatcher, Flavescent Flycatcher, Streaked Flycatcher, Curl-crested, Chestnut-eared, Ivory-billed Aracaris, Pink-throated Brilliant, Plumbeous Euphonia, Purple-throated Euphonia, Gilded Barbet, Black-faced, Blue Dacnis, Green, Purple Honeycreepers just to mention some of them. Then we will head to our next birding spot Koepecks Hermit (Aconabikh) which is a great place for Golden-headed, Blue-crowned, Blue-backed, Fiery-capped Manakins, Thrush-like Antpitta, Peruvian Antwarbler, Black-faced Antthrush, Red-billed Toucanet, Black-faced Antbird, White-flanked Antwren, Pygmy Antwren, Golden-collared Woodpecker, Spixs Guan, Golden-collared Toucanet and with luck Hairy-crested Antbird, and White-plumed Antbird. By the feeders Koepckes Hermit, Goulds Jewelfront, Black-throated Mango, White-necked Jacobin and may others species. After a full day birding along the area, we will back to Tarapoto. Day 2: Birding up to Arena Blanca Private Reserve

After breakfast we will head to Arena Blanca Reserve with a stop for Oilbird roosting area and Rice Fields for Spotted Rail and with good luck Paint-billed Crake! As soon we arrive to the reserve we will spend time at the hummingbird feeders for Wire-crested Throntail, Rufous-crested Coquette, Amethys Woodstar, Blue-fronted Lancebill as main targets and also, we will do some birding lodge surroundings. Night in Arena Blanca Reserve Lodge

Day 3: Full-day birding along Afluente – Alto Mayo Reserve

Today we will spend time searching for mixed flock species including for Yellow-scarfed Tanager (E), Rufous-browed Peppershrike, Russet-crowned Warbler, Inca Flycatcher (E), Green and Black Fruiteater, Blue-winged Mountain-Tanager, Huallaga Tanager, Yellow-breasted Antwren, Ash-throated Antwren (E), Rufous-rumped Foliage-gleaner, Spotted Barbtail, Ash-browed Spinetail, Ornate Flycatcher, Marble-faced Bristle-tyrant, Peruvian Tyrannulet, Olivaceous Greenlet, Blackish Antbird, Lanceolated Monklet, Scaled Fruiteater and many other species. Night in Arena Blanca Reserve Lodge

DAY 4: Birding to Amazonas Region

After breakfast we will start our birding drive to Cocachimba near Gocta Waterfall for Peruvian Pigeon, Marañon Crescenchest, Marañon Thrush, Buff-bellied Tanager, Speckled-breasted Piculet, Marvelous Spatuletail all Peruvian endemics with very small and restricted location in Peru. We will try to reach the area as soon as possible to have the chance to find all our target species today, if not we will see next morning. Night in Gocta Lodge

DAY 5: Birding to Pomacochas & Abra Patricia

Morning birding for Buff-bellied Tanager, Marañon Thrush, Marañon Crescentchest, Peruvian Pigeon, Marvelous Spatuletail all Endemics. Then we will head back to the main road to Pomacochas Lake to explore the edge of the Lake for Plumbeous Rail and a small patch of forest for Lined-cheeked Spinetail, Black-crested Warbler, Rufous-capped Antshrike, and Rufous-chested Tanager. Then we will drive to Abra Patricia where is located our next biridng lodge. If time permits, we will try to find some Owls as White-throated Screech-owl, Cinnamon Screech-Owl and the most wanted Long-whiskered Owlet. Night in Owlet Lodge

DAY 6: Birding for Endemic along Abra Patricia

Today we will spend birding along the trails and main road searching for al target species such Yellow-scarfed Tanager (E), Jhonson Tody-Flycatcher (E), Royal Sunangel, Ecuadorian Piedtail, White-headed Tanager, White-capped Tanager, Vermillion Tanager, Napo Sabrewing with luck Torrent duck and White-capped Dipper along the river near the main road. If time permits, we will try to find some Owls as White-throated Screech-owl, Cinnamon Screech-Owl and the most wanted Long-whiskered Owlet. Night in Owlet Lodge

DAY 7: Birding to Moyobamba

After breakfast we will start our birding drive to Moyobamba town where is located our last birding lodge for our trip which it is surroundings of nice garden and hummingbird feeders where we can find Rufous-crested coquette, Black-throated Hermit, Brown Violetear, Grey-breasted Sabrewing, White-chinned Sapphire, White-necked Jacobin, Great-billed Hermit, Golden-tailed Sapphire, Fork-tailed Woodnymph and many other species according to the season. Late afternoon we will try to find Band-bellied, Black-banded, Stripe Owls, and Tropical Screech-Owl. Night in Waqanki Orchid Lodge

DAY 8: Birding and back to Tarapoto

Early birding at Morro de Calzada Reserve where hold several species such as Blue-crowned, Violaceus, White-tailed Trogons, Bluish-fronted Jacamar, Gilded Barbet, Chestnut-eared Aracari, Short-crested Flycatcher, Mishana Tyrannulet (E), Painted Manakin (E), Cinereous-breasted Spinetail, Western Striolated Puffbird, Pearly-vented, and Stripe-necked Tody-tyrants, Short-tailed Pygmy-Tyrant, Red-shouldered Tanager, Black-bellied Tanager (E), Lafresnayes Piculet and many more. After a great day birding morning, we will start our drive to Tarapoto for a late afternoon flight to Lima and connections. End of our services.
